Whether you enjoy perusing rich historical data or you seek inspiration - or
both, this reviewer is pleased to highly recommend Cherish the Past. In fact, your reviewer read it twice!
One Editor advised a group of aspiring writers that writing an autobiographical book is only of interest to the writer, the
writer's family and friends - unless you were already a celebrity.
Most publishers would agree with that - they want to ensure a title will sell well before they agree to publish.
Fortunately, there are some determined writers who don't always follow traditional wisdom. The reading public therefore gets the opportunity from
time to time to discover new writing talent.
This reviewer was therefore very pleased when he came across Cherish The Past.
The opening paragraph confirmed at once that this would be an enjoyable read:
"The sky was a brilliant cerulean blue with puffy cumulus clouds flitting across it like lambs frolicking in the meadow. Spring, with its
gentle breezes and yellow fields of daffodils, had chased the winter winds
with their sharp edges of chill away early this year."
The writer is attending a school reunion - and drifts back in time painting
a vivid picture of times gone by.
Tracing the earliest beginnings of her birth town, with careful historical
research, the writer succeeds in bringing alive the real human characters,
the pets, the smells, sights and sounds of places dear to her heart.
We share the joys, the tragedies, the drama, the humor as the writer narrates her touching story: starting with a small but wonderful community,
growing-up, family and social life, moving to bigger places - and bringing
us full cycle, right up to date.
The writer confides in the book, "What was the plan God asked me to fulfill?
I firmly believe I was meant to write. If one person finds some guidance from my writing, then I have put a smile on God's face."
By the end of the book, you realize that you have been on a virtual - you can even say a spiritual - journey with the writer - and you are very glad
that the writer generously shared her cherished memories and inspired writing with you.
