Once you have written your book, preferably with your word processor, edit and amend it until you have your final version ready for release to your readers. You need to put your writing in an an e-book format so that you readers can download your e-book. E-books can be created in a number of formats. Some e-book generators / e-book software will only let you create e-books for Windows PCs and not for MACs. Others - like Acrobat - lets you create pdf. files that can be read on PCs and MACs. You need to decide whether you wish to create a PC only version or a MAC version as well. E-book creation software varies greatly in price. Take a look at 2 or 3 e-book software vendors to compare prices and features. Also, take advantage of free trial downloads where this is available. That way, you can test drive the e-book creation software - and then pay for the one that most fits your requirements. Once you have "played" with one or two e-book creation software packages, you will find that it is as simple as word processing. You just need to learn a few new steps and you can be creating your own e-books within the hour. Don't release your work without creating it properly with e-book software. If you do, your work may not be password protected. That means people can just pass it around for free. We cover this in the next section. |
