Stress is the plague of modern times.
1. Time is your life
More to do than hours in the day? Organise to beat your stress. Take a step
back. See what really matters, set priorities. Cut out wasted energy, focus on
the things that make you happy.
2. Take it easy
Change of pace works wonders. A hectic life has no room for mind and body to
rest. Relaxing hobbies address the imbalance. Reading, music, walking, etc are
ideal.
3. Let it out
Don't bottle it up. Let off steam, safely. The driving
range, the gym and the lawn are ideal. Or use scream therapy. Just avoid taking
it out on people!
4. Day Dream
Close your eyes, imagine a white sandy beach, somewhere exotic. Feel the breeze,
hear the waves, taste the clean air, feel the warm Sun. Use any image that works
for you. 20 min sessions daily.
5. A deep breathe
Stress causes short, rapid breaths. To reduce stress, take deep, slow breaths,
focus on each breath. Make it deeper, until you are breathing right from your
belly. 20 mins daily or 5 mins when you feel under attack.
6. Soak it away
Wash away your worries in a hot bath tub filled with Dead Sea mineral salts, and
some foaming aromatherapy bath oil.
7. Avoid CANS
Caffeine, Alcohol, Nicotine, and Sugar make stress. Short term fixes, they have
a temporary effect, but build up toxins that leave your body worse off.
8. Time Out
When things get too much, walk away, even if it is
temporary. It won't make it all go away, but it helps
you cope. Come back with a better perspective and a fresher mind. Just 1 day
will do. And it does not need to be exotic - just fun.
9. Fighting Fit
Exercise fights stress. Keeps you strong, uses up nervous energy, improves
circulation, creates endorphins to make you feel good. There is good and bad
exercise, so get advice.
10. Treat yourself
You are very special, so do something special just for yourself. Nothing lavish
- a simple treat that makes you feel fantastic.
