The best way to select printers is to ask for personal recommendations if you know anyone using printing services. Another way is to look through relevant magazines or your local business pages. Check to see if the printers are members of any trade associations. However, even if a printer is listed in a reputable magazine or they are trade association members, that does not guarantee that they don't make mistakes. Here's an example: A customer contacted a printer for a trial run of small booklets. The printer gave a fixed price for each booklet. However, the printer suggested that the customer might wish to delete the tint which appeared on the pages as it would look much better. The customer appreciated the advice. The customer then formatted the pages correctly. The customer also added 10% more pages to the booklet. The customer was then shocked to discover that by adding 10% extra pages, the printer now sought to charge more than double the original price per booklet. The printer had failed to give a proper breakdown of the prices - and they failed to give anything in writing. The customer correctly told the printer that they didn't want anything to do with the printer. The moral of the story? If you want something printed, don't give your printers the licence to print money at your expense. Get all quotations in writing before you tell them to proceed. If they seek to overcharge, don't pay. Look at the case studies and tips from http://www.AskProfessors.com
