Any successful writer will tell you that much. Getting published is just the starting point. Most writers only sell between 1000 to 3000 copies first time around. Hardly enough to turn you into a full-time professional writer.

The writer who learns how to work with others to promote his or her book is the one who sells more copies. You can never become a bestseller on your own - there are many factors that dictate how well your book is received. One thing is also for sure - if you don't take an active interest in marketing your book, others will be even less interested.
